- Co-founded the Animal Defense League - New Jersey in 1996, served as Media Representative, and built the groups first webpage in 1996
- Worked for a year on organic farms on the Big Island of Hawaii through the Willing Workers on Organic Farms program and co-founded Hawaii Genetic Engineering Action Network in 2002
